  1. Hello,

I have a built in navigation system in my Cadillac CTS and would like to copy the NAV disc.. it costs $675!! I'd rather leave the original at home and use a dupe.

The trouble is the disc has no .IFO or .VOB files so a program like X Copy Express can't read it .. nor can DVD Shrink. Right now I am copying it as an .ISO using DVD Decrpyter, but once it's done I don't know what to do with the files!!

I know the DVD unit in the car will play a DVD movie but it won't play the compressed dupes that I have made, I wonder if it's even worthwhile to try to copy the NAV disc as it may not be readable if it's compressed.

There is over 6 GB on the NAV disc so I can't just make a disc to disc copy from the HD.. but what program to use to do it?

Or am I trying something that ultimately will fail like the compressed DVD's I have tried to play?

    ************************ OR*******************************

Can I buy a 9 GB DVD and then burn a copy using my Sony DRU 510 burner? If so where to get a blank 9 GB disc?

    Thanks to all who reply!

  2. Dont think you can, with a DVD its lowering the video quality to compress it onto 1 disc, whereas that is data and if you somehow compress it its probably going to be unreadable in the unit by the SatNAv

They won't be available to the public until late 2004 or early 2005 and you will probably need a new writer.
