  1. A friend of a friend asked me to fix their pc. It is an old pentium 1 and when you turn it on it asks for a password. I think this has been set up on the bios. Is there a way to disable, reset or get around the bios password ?

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Russ

  2. You could try to take the battery out and let it sit for a while....

  3. Sorry I am not clued on the complexity of the inside of pc's where will the battery be and what will it look like. In refernece to the other post that would be great but the password has been set on the bios to access the whole pc so I cannot get to a stage where I can even type anything !!

Ahh yes, the old Pentium 1's

As for the battery, you're looking for something similar to the following:

Mine is on the motherboard mixed amongst the PCI/ISA slots.

You could pull the battery and wait, or you might be lucky enough to have a CMOS clearing jumper near the battery...

1-2 is normal, and if I flipped to 2-3, it would clear the CMOS settings. Personally, I'd flip the jumper, wait a couple of seconds, then put it back to 1-2, but whatever works for you
