Does anyone know if the harddisk of a DVD/HDD recorder can be upgraded (more GB's) just as easily as in your computer ? Should this be formatted ? Anyone who has experience with upgrading ? If it's possible, will this be valid for all brands/models ?![]()

I was reading somewhere that it is not easy, if it even can be done. They use some kind of different formating... I guess...

TIVO uses Linux. Most of the others use an embedded OS or Linux.
You can't just swap drives. There's the equivalent fo 'BIOS' that needs adjusted(could be automatic). The drive needs to be formatted.
It's a crapshoot as to whether the formatting can be done by the player or must be done externally. You could probably ghost the thing, but you would ahve to see if the bigger drive is recognized by the player. To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan
