Just started using this program. I freeze in the middle of capturing - have tried twice.
Any thoughts?

More detail would be a definite advantage before anyone can help. What do you mean by in the middle of a capture, are your captures 10 seconds, 10 minutes or 10 hours? What format are you capturing in? What file system are you using. If you have FAT32 and have not told Mediastudio to split the captures, it will stop when you reach 4 Gb.

Does the system freeze like you have to "ctrl-alt-del" to get out?? Or does it just stop captureing but everything is fine. Does it save a video file? if so what size is it?

Try changeing the setting and capture again, although captureing to AVI should use the least amount of CPU since there is no major conversion hapenning. What happens if you capture to DVD(mpeg2) or something? You have enough drive space? -
I use Mediastudio Pro 6.5 and a Sony DV camcorder. The fact that you are freezing after about 10 minutes may be significant as DV avi is around 13 Gb per hour. 10 minutes is going to be around the 2 Gb mark. I used to use Mediastudio Pro 5.2 and that version couldn't cope with files bigger than 2 Gb.
Unless you are using a old version of MSP, you need to set the capture settings to Ulead Directshow and ensure that your capture drive is formatted as NTFS. If you are using an earlier version, you will need to restrict your captures to no more than 9 minutes a time. -

There is a check box in capture that tells it how long to capture. If it is set at 10 min it will stop capturing at 10 min. If it is set at no limit and you still have this problem then it is something else.
