    I give up!! is there just an all in one software package which will allow me to burn any type of file (dat file, movie file, mpeg, vcd etc) onto DVD-R. I dont care how much it costs.

    Nero can burn anything to a DVD-R, if you just want it to be a data disk. But if you mean making a DVD-Video, it takes some work to prepare the files you mentioned so that an authoring program can import them.
