    Hello everybody,

First let me thank all the participants of these forums for the good job and the usefull hints and explanations they give on the posted topics .

I've bougth a 16:9 42inch plasma tv (HDTV ready) and I would like to make DVD's from miniDV footage.

My Sony DCR-PC1 outputs 1024x576 PAL footage (in 16:9 mode, otherwise it's the standard 720x576).
I allready make DVD's with TmpgEnc and Sonic MyDVD in standard PAL format, so far so good.
For the plasma TV, I would like the picture to completelly fill the screen.
How do I have to encode the 1024x576 footage to achieve this ?

ah, by the way, VirtualDUB seems not to recognize 1024x576 footage, it generates an error and nothing is displayed.

    Anyway, many thanks in advance...
    jack

Convert it to 720x576 with 16:9 aspect ratio in tmpgenc(under Settings->Video) or any other encoder but change the aspect ratio to 16:9.

Author with a tool that can keep the 16:9 aspect ratio, tmpgenc dvd author for example, or with an author tool that you can change to 16:9 playback mode manually.

Thanks a lot Baldrick, I'm going to try this right away; since Sonic MyDVD does'nt include any settings, I'll have to get hold on Tmpg DVD author.

    Till next time
