I downloaded the SVCD sample from this site, burnt it and stuck it in my DVD player. Quality was great and even the menus and stuff worked fine. Then I tried to make my own and so far they've all sucked! There is this constant flickering of the image which would be enough to give you an epileptic fit after a while. I thought the problem was to do with interlacing but I tried all the possible settings there and nothing has helped. I'm using TMPGenc 2.0 to encode the file and burning with Nero 5.5.
    Can Anyone help?????????

  2. I have a DV3000 and have been successful in getting SVCD's and xSVCD's to work with no problems.

Make sure you have your resolution set right, and make your SVCD's interlaced to get around the 2/3's problem.

Give me more info about settings in Tmpge and I'll see if I get the same results.

  3. What settings are you using in TMPGenc (template, bitrate, motion search, etc). What's the source (DVD, DivX, capture, etc). These things make a big difference. A DVD rip -> x(S)VCD can produce quaility as good as the DVD source. A DivX -> VCD will never look all that great
