    Hi All,
    A friend gave me a Sony SLV 585HF for use in transferring some VHS
    video to DVDR. Problem is it doesn't have a remote and I see no
    buttons to turn off the on screen display on the VCR. Anyone know if
    it's possible w/out a remote and if so how? If not, what model remote
    goes w/this VCR? Checked Sony.com but no help. Thanks!

    Find a friend who has an ipaq or another type of learning remotes. Most of them have the codes built in for thousands of different devices.
