    Have anyone brought one of these generic brands yet? are they anygood? looks like the top disc is all silver, which i absolutely dislike. I've had some CD-Rs with silver tops and when you touch it with your fingers, it leaves finger prints on it. I've never heard of Yesbuy.net, are they reliable?

  2. Just be you get the AN32 media code. They sent me a hundred with a different media code AML, and they were pure crap. They stop after a few seconds in my Pioneer 105 burner and won't initialize.

    OK, obviously I need to give more details. Don't make me out to be a total idiot because that is not the case.

    I ordered 25 pieces of the 4X Sky media along with other brands from different sources. The media code was AN32, and they all worked beautifully, no coasters. I then ordered 200 pieces from yesbuy.net. All had the AN32 media code, and all worked well, again no coasters. Ordered another 200 pieces, 100 were the usual AN32, the other 100 had a different media code, AML. The AML discs do not burn in my Pioneer 105, they are either ejected by the burner when trying to initialize, or give errors while burning. When examining the discs, you can see small light scratches in the dye from the center hole out towards the outer edge.

    So far yesbuy.net have not answered my e-mails or returned my phone calls about returning the defective discs for an exchange.

    Are we clear now? When ordering the Sky media, make sure you do not get the AML media code, as those appear to be ones that are defective.

    what is AN32? It doesn't say the number on the description when you order. You order 400+ SKY DVD-R's? that's quite alot of blanks, why would anyone need that much blanks? I would never buy the same media, especially 400+ cheap ones, if it's FUJI on the other hand i wouldn't mind. anyways, is the top solid silver, does it leave figure prints?
    what about the Princo DVD-R's, are they anygood?

    AN32 is the manufacturing media code of the 4X Sky discs. Have you never checked the media code of the discs you use, so that you are familiar with who makes the ones that work well for you? Some people on this forum are in the manufacturing business, and do tend to use media by the spindle. Sorry, I thought I was answering a question for someone who was looking to buy in bulk. Maybe you should just stick to the name brands you can buy locally.

  10. @Beautiful Alone,

    I deal with YesBuy.net numerous times before. They are in California (L.A. area). Most of their merchandise are from Taiwan or mainland China, so it carries a low price. When I was burning VCDs & SVCDs last year, I usually bought 90-min & 99-min CDs from them, and also CD accessories. They're OK. All my merchandise always arrive on time, and they do provide UPS tracking number when they ship the merchandise.

    @ckdexterhn1,

    When dealing with YesBuy.net, try phone calls, and make sure you talk with someone. I found this is much more successful than the e-mail route. There's a couple of times, that my order were missing some items, when I called them and get someone on the phone, they will sent it out right away. This happened to me twice, and they did respond, and the stuff did arrive. I don't know anything about returning though. Like I said earlier, they are in California, and so they operate in the Pacific time zone. I always have success calling them between 2:00 to 4:00 Pacific time.

    Cheers,

  11. Thanks Viper10000. After several phone calls (and finding the TOLL FREE number!) I did finally speak to Emily about the problem and sent back the bad discs. Hopefully I'll get the new ones next week.

    Pharlap, I've tried many different brands of media, and LONGTENS do suck. Couldn't get most of a 25 pack to burn in my Pioneer 105, and the few that did wouldn't play in most standalones. AN31 media are suspect, but AN32 media have worked well in 99% of the players I've tried.
