Is there a codec to interpret this sound?

    Audio : 186 MB, 448 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 5 channels, 0x2000 = AC3 DVM, Unsupported

Needless to say, I have GREAT video but no sound whatsoever...Help!

it's AC5.1 sound. Download a free codec for it on the right. Alternately, installing the New version of PowerDVD will install one as well.

  3. I have the same problem playing these AC3 DVM files, AVI Codec says the audio is unsupported and when you select the web link it takes you to Nimo - which doesn't appear to have this codec either . I have not tried to play the AVI on PowerDVD or WinDVD.

What I ended up doing (as I make them into VCDs anyway), was to load the AVI file into virtual dub and then leaving it on Direct Stream Copy I goto Save Wav (should make a 200 mb ish file). Then rename the file to .ac3 (which of course is what it is ). Load this .ac3 file into HeadAChe as a source file then choose a destination wav file (resampled to 44100 Hz if making VCD). Takes about 30 mins (processor dependant).

You now have an uncompressed audio track 8) (only two channels though). I then use TMPGEnc as per normal, selecting the source video as my original AVI and the source audio as my sparking new WAV file. A couple of hours later I have a squeaky clean mpg that will play or burn as required.

If anyone does know where to get a real codec for the AC3 DVM then can they please attach a link to the Codecs section.

    Cheers
