I am asking you some help. I have noticed many people in this present forum with a lot of knowledges. I want to buy a DVD player that will read zone 1 and zone 2 DVD with a normal NTSC american TV. Actually, I have a JVC XV-N40BK. Nobody in any forums found a hack to play zone 2 PAL DVD. It looks like this JVC is locked only for american discs. So I have to buy another machine that will read Europeen DVD.

Please talk to me about a machine easy to use, not those kind you have to enter endless codes. But one you put the disc in and it plays.

Also, if possible, a DVD player I can find in Canada.

    Thanks to all of you.

There were many not so well known brands DVD players that could be code triggered to play DVD of all zones (DVD players manufactured last year such as Apex 500, 1200, Norcent 300, 215, Citizen JD3838, Electrohome 8168 etc.) and I doubted if you can now find any DVD players (manufactured 2nd half of 2003) on the market that can do the same.

  3. I had a Sampo brand that played all regions. If your interested there is a web site http://www.area450.com that discusses this brand. I was happy with it but a power surge took it out along with my PC. I then figured if I was going to replace both, I would begin buy buying a replacement PC with a DVD burner and just get an off the shelf standalone player and begin backing up my movies without region codes.

Walmart sells Norcent DP-300, appr. $60. That machine never heard about zones. Also converts PAL to NTSC, just go to setup-preferences menu and change from Multi to NTSC, otherwise there is PAL output signal from European movies.

Norcent DP-300 does not work with zone 2 PAL DVD.

I just bought one from Wal-Mart and I tried it. In the preferences, I put NTSC instead of Multi. The DVD player said "Wrong region" when I put my zone 2 DVD in it.

So I will return it to Wal-Mart and try to find something else that read zone 2 DVD.
