    I want to play my DV-movies directly from camcorder (Sony TRV 33) via Firewire (IEEE1394) full-screen and with sound to my PC-monitor. So, without capturing directly to the screen.
    I know there must be such software. A few years ago I had a Sony Vaio laptop with pre-installed software wich was able to do that. The name of that programm was DV-gate or something.

    Video Studio. With the camera on an connected via firewire. Load VS 7, and from the Capture fucntion select DV. The preview window will display the fire wire video and VCR function buttons You will be able to Play, FF, RWD, etc, from your computer. You will not be capturing, unless you decide you want to.
