not only may the series come back, but there may also be a direct to dvd movie.

    how the **** about that??

i guess its just proves the idiocy that resides at the fox network, cancelling great shows.

i'm surprised they ridded themselves of futurama considering its ratings & dvd sales are atleast equal to or surpass those of family guy.

its alot easier to bring back family guy than futurama though..

    devanshu may crap his panties
Brian: [blah blah blah] and stewie needs to be changed
Stewie: Why that's preposterous, oh wait there it is

Same feeling, except I'm a boxers guy.

I've actually known about this for a while, but I read somewhere that they were looking to be picked up by some other network. But hey, family guy is great on any channel. I've never been a big futurama fan, its alright and gives me a few laughs once in a while. Why would it be harder to bring futurama back?

That would be cool if they did bring Family Guy back.

Jexx: Why would it be hard to bring Futurama back? Even on another network. I thought Groening kept all (or at least most of) the rights, and didn't sell out to Fox, and that is one of the reasons Fox canceled it - because they we pissed he wouldn't sell them the rights like he did with the Simpsons, and they thought weren't making as much money as they should be...

  4. the cost of a single futurama episode is around $1million to $1.6million. its not just the planet express ship, the show uses quite a lot of 3D effects - not to mention the rest of the animation and the fact that they have some of the best writers and voice actors around.

all of the people associated with the show have moved on and bringing them back together would be very difficult. even if you brought back some of them, the show probably wouldnt have the same appeal it had before.

aside from the 4 major networks, there arent many that could afford to pay for futurama.

i'm not saying its impossible, but its about as far away from possible as you can get when a show gets cancelled.

So you think it's extremely improbable that the show would ever be picked up by another network... Too bad.

  6. i belive matt groening still owns all the rights to futurama, and if another network were to express a real interest in making new shows and he were able to get a good part of the "old team" back together, then maybe it would come back.

but still, its a really long shot.

And Futurama wasn't really all that popular - not as popular as The Simpsons, at least.

But hopefully Fox will at least bring back Family Guy.

This news is the best news I've heard in along time. Hopefully they won't get our hopes out and then stomp them flat. Now Invader Zim needs to come back.

Long time ago...because it was too "controvertial". Damn hippies.

Was there any specific reason why they canceled it? One of the most common reasons I've heard is that they wre getting poor ratings due to the show's schedule being bounced everywhere. I find that hard to believe.

Since this is the ongoing family guy discussion topic, I have one more...

I just finished watching "Road to Rhode Island" episode(probably one of the funniest ones ever) and the part where they get to the airport and stewie sings a song to distract the people at the x-ray machine , and he says "Let's hope osama bin laden doesnt know..." and you see osama singing a song...was this cut out from the tv version, because it was on tv recently and I dont think I saw that part.

BTW, my favorite part from the episode:

    [singing]
"We're off on the road to Rhode Island"...
"I'm with an intellectual, who craps in his pants"
"How dare you! At least I dont leave urine stains, on all the household plants"
