  1. Lite-on has annouced their LWD-811s as "coming soon". Seems it will do 8x plus media with other speeds similar to the 411s.

Here's a picture of the box in German.

  3. Maybe you'll get lucky and you can firmware upgrade it to the 811s. Its rumour to be a possibility. Also heard there may be a new firmware update out this week for the 411s...probably making it more media compatible.

  7. So this 811 is EXACTLY the same as the 411 except for the fact that it burns dvd+r's at 8x? Personally, I dont think thats worth an extra 70 dollars...

The LiteON's drives apparently run hotter than others. (I'm trying to find the thread).

  11. For those interested....this drive has officially been annouced as released by Lite-on. Some are out in Taiwain and S. Korea. So far on there has been no 4x media that has burned at 8x with this drive.

    Discs tested include (for 8x):

    Mitsubishi (MCC) 4X DVD+R
    That's (Taiyo Yuden) 4X DVD+R
    Ritek 4X DVD+R
    RiData 4X DVD+R
