What will it burn? DVR-A04

I'm looking on the back of the box for the DVR-A04.

This writer can not write on DVD-R 3.95GB or 4.7GGB for Authoring media. However, after recording, the media can be read by the writer and DVD-R supporting playback devices

What does that mean exactly. What media can I burn on? What will be able to read what I burn? Thanks.

It just means you need to use general use DVD-R 4.7 GB discs, not mastering discs. I have used Maxell ,TDK, Ritek all with no problems.

General use discs are the discs you see in Best Buy , on the net, etc.

It also means, for whatever it's worth, that the A04 can read DVD-R(a) (Authoring) media after such discs have been burned in a DVD-R(a) burner such as the DVR-S210.
