  1. I'm looking on the back of the box for the DVR-A04.

    It just means you need to use general use DVD-R 4.7 GB discs, not mastering discs. I have used Maxell ,TDK, Ritek all with no problems.

    General use discs are the discs you see in Best Buy , on the net, etc.

    It also means, for whatever it's worth, that the A04 can read DVD-R(a) (Authoring) media after such discs have been burned in a DVD-R(a) burner such as the DVR-S210.
