How do you test the following:
    + Audio+video is in synch
    + DVD was burned correctly
+ A divx file is OK (no errors or missing frames...)

I do som basic testing after the file is encoded/burned, but recently I noticed some videos with audio out of synch. So I want to check my files/DVD's and make sure they are OK.

For DVD "authoring" i check with IfoEdit (freeware) you open the .ifo
of your VIDEO_TS folder, (and play)if this works, you know it's okay, checking with PowerDVD you can't rely on...
    Thanks,

There is a freeware adware version of a program called DVDInfoPro

This program allows you to run a READ ERROR TEST on a burned DVD

From what people are saying if you have ANY ... even ONE ... RED BLOCK on the READ ERROR TEST ... you might want to consider chucking it and trying again with another DVD disc.

However I have found that if you only have a very few READ ERRORS that your stand alone DVD player will still play the DVD just fine.

Also it helps not to fill up the DVD too much. I've been going through a big pack of BeAll 1x-4x DVD-R discs and some got read errors if I went over 4.2GB (about 4300MB) so now I try to keep my final size below 4.19GB (around 4200MB to 4250MB) to avoid this. It's not tht big of a deal to limit yourself to 4.2GB since a full DVD is only about 4.37GB ... it ain't that big of a difference to make any real noticeable quality difference if your final file size is 4.2GB instead of 4.37GB so better to be safe and stick with the smaller size UNLESS you are using GRADE-A media but then again the BeAll discs I'm using were supposed to be GRADE-A media so what can you do?

Can't really help you with the DivX thing but I do know VirtualDub has a BAD FRAME SCAN that you can run. If it reports NONE then it should be fine.
