  1. I know this might sound like a very dumb question but is it possible to convert an .exe file into a .txt or binary or some sort of data which later can be copied and pasted to form the original?

    What about mp3's?

Yes...it's done all the time on Usenet.

However, the files are huge, bigger than the original file size, and need to be split into parts in order to post.

  3. Can you tell me how or what tools are needed to make the conversions?

If you're trying to post a binary in a newsgroup, you don't need any special tools other than a newsreader.

Just attach the file as you would for email and send it.
Outlook Express, Netscape, Agent, WinVN, etc - any of these will do it for you automatically.

If you're just trying to send to one person, don't bother going through all that - just use AOL's AIM (Instant Messanger) or IRC...attach the file and send (providing the person is signed on)

If you're on AOL, you can't post binaries to newsgroups - they don't allow text that size.
If mailing to another aol member, just attach the file in your mail and send it.
If it's too big, use a file splitter - JoneSoft is good
