  1. Just curious if anyone has tried these. If so, what is the manufacturer id? Most of the cheapy 4x DVD-R from all of these online sites are not true 4x disks and as a result, they don't burn @4x, or do so very rarely.

These however, are DVD+R 4x disks, and if by chance they were ...say...Ricoh manufactured...they'd certainly be worth jumping all over for this price. They would also be worth getting at least 100 of if they were at least of 'good' quality and consistent with 4x burn speeds.

Yesbuy says they are compatibile with most burners, but that doesn't mean diddly. That just means they'll "burn" in most burners,... not necessarily burn @4x in most burners.

If anyone has tried these, please post your results as well as what burner you have. If you haven't tried these and think the offer is too good to pass up...here is the link below.

  2. I can tell you one thing, don't buy from yesbuy.net!!!!! Unless you don't mind waiting a month or two and having to file complaints with yahoo to get them to ship your order. Don't bother trying to contact them, they will never return your emails... They are aweful!

Also it says "Manufacturer: SKY" Never heard of them....

  3. @ thayne, thanks for the heads up. I read a few days ago in another post where you said you had to contact yahoo and send several emails to get through to yesbuy.

Can anyone else comment on yesbuy's customer service and whether or not they've had problems with their orders, etc?

I'd still like to know the manufacturer id of these Sky DVD+R 4x disks.

Never used them myself but look at their scores:

  5. I think that score is too high! LOL Seriously I have ordered from at lease 50 different online stores and yesbuy.net is by far the worst experience I have ever had! I emailed them more than a dozen times asking what the hold up was on my order and to date have never received a single email from them, nothing. I finally filed a complaint with yahoo stores before anything happened. They sure didn't have any problem charging my credit card though!

btw, i order CD-Rs from them awhile back..no problems...but they prolly got worse over the years...

  7. Actually no I haven't. Are they bad? They have some good deals, but I can usually find it cheaper.

Let this be a lesson to online retailers! If you screw your customers they never forget!

Although you won't get 4x DVD+R's for 88 cents, I recommend allmediaoutlet.com I have placed 6 orders with them and never had a problem. I usually get my order withing 2 or 3 days and that's using thier free shipping.

lets just say they're not very good

i forgot the link, but awhile back...when you ordered something with credit card, they would automatically sign up your credit card for free long distance for something....however, the long distance company started billing you w/o letting you know...ppl tried to cancel, but it didn't work..

i believe there were other horror stories....

i.e. their rebates give you like 2 weeks from time of order (not receiving) to postmark the rebates...

and items they advertised as "new" were actually "used"

  9. We had a computer store here where I live that used to sell used hardware as new. You never knew cause that sold everything in plastic bags, even retail stuff. I know they did cause I got a mian board there once and they said it was new, but it didn't work and some of the jumpers were not in the default pins. Needless to say they are no longer in business....

  10. for info on SKY : http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/skymedia/
incl. pics of the manufacturing plant in Switserland!

    I bought yesterday a spindle of 25 SKY DVD+R's on a computerfair,
haven't tried them yet, will let you know my experiences when I
checked them out. (I paid 29 euro's for 25 discs)
NOTE: In the Netherlands we have to pay 50 eurocents EXTRA for each
DVD+R/RW disc which is then given to artists (copyright issue!).
    So we're f*cked here....
    [ 1 euro = 1.17 US dollars]

Just downloaded dvdinfo, so I'll use that too to see what info is on there.

    more l8er.

Indeed. I got an external case for a CDRW, and they tacked on an extended warranty. ON A FRIGGIN' CASE! I NEVER buy warranties, since I used to sell them at Circuit City and know what bullshit they are. But Tiger wouldn't remove it from my bill; I had to go to the company that issues it. After a half hour runaround, I figured it wasn't worth it and would resolve the issue by never buying from that crackhouse again.

Call your credit card company and report it as fraud. Tell then you want a 'Charge Back' for improper billing. Chargebacks lower their credit rating, too many and they will lose their ability to accept credit cards directly. They can accept them through a service, but this runs 5%-15%, and that will kill any online business....way too expensive.

Too many chargebacks = Going out of Business

  13. I just burned a DVD+R, 2.4x speed. No probs at all!

Reading the earlier mentioned website and seeing the ID in dvdinfo,
these dvd's must be made by SKY themselves, and are not imported
    from some asian plant.

  15. I searched google on these disks a couple of days after noone responded that they tried the disks. The posts from other forums and any info on Sky disks were terrible. They use the phony maxell media id on some....there was another media id which people had virtually no sucess with....now these with the "SKYMEDIAR" media id. Some people say they had good success with the Phony Maxell disks which goes against the majority...but hey..maybe it's possible the disks are better quality now...who knows...I wouldn't try them though.

  16. First I have to defend YesBuy.com. I have placed 4 or 5 oders with them using their free shipping. The orders shipped the same or next day and were in my hands within 5 or 6 days. They send shipping confirmations and UPS tracking numbers. Their service to me has been exceptional.

As fo SKY media, I have been using the 2X disks without a coaster (other than for some stupid authoring mistakes <g>). The disks play clean to the end on my Toshiba standalone and also play on my kids' PS2.

Once I use up my 2X supply I plan to try the 4x.

Maybe I've just been lucky, but so far Yesbuy has been great.

It's easy to give great reviews to an online store when everything goes as expected.
When they have in stock what your ordered = Great site!
When they ship it out on time = Great site!
When the items arrive on time = Great site!
When they ship the same stuff you ordered = Great site!

All of these things and more are what you would expect from *any* online retailer.

However, it's when things *don't* go as expected that the true test of an online store is given.
If they *don't* have what you ordered, do you get any feedback? Is your credit card charged anyway?
When things get lost, do you get ignored?
When you are shipped the wrong stuff, do you get the runaround?

It sounds like yesbuy doesn't do well when things go wrong.
