Just want to give people a head's up. Ebay has high jacked my email account. They sent me a email through their email address stating if I didn't update my account info they were shutting it down. I clicked the link and it took me to their login screen asking for user name, email address and that adresses password. 12 hours later you lose your email account it gives you invalid password. So be warned, someone isn't playing nicely.

No eBay didn't hijack your account, YOU gave it away unfoirtunately. You feel victim to the oldest trick in the book. The phoney "your account will expire unless you submit your password" trick. Aka an email spoof.

You'll find everything you need to know here.

Contact eBay immediately to tell them your account was hijacked. You can do that through this link.

Never give your passwords out to ANYONE. Not even if another site asks for it. No legitimate site will ask for this information. When in doubt, contact the company BEFORE you give away your info.

    Regards,

    Savant

I got that email too - three things that are a tipoff -

    - check the Full Headers, not just the brief header - I noticed that while it had "ebay@ebay.com" as the return address, it didn't originate from an ebay.com server.

    - on the link that it asked me to click on, it was an ebay.com address, but with a funky redirect to another website after that, so it wasn't going to an ebay.com site, it was redirecting from one to a 3rd party site.

    - it said that my account was overdue, and I had to reenter payment info. I went to ebay.com and logged in and checked my account - it wasn't overdue.

you gotta watch out.... if it sounds fishy, go to ebay.com and check your account status.. follow links from there.
