    Hello,

I have this movie which is made up of 1 bin file, 1 cue file, 1 toc file & 1 nfo file.
Content of the nfo file :
    <2-pass XviD 29122002-1 (Koepi) @ 592 X 336 with AC3 in OGM and packed in XCD>
When I burn the image file or mount it, I get
1 dat file, 1 idx file, 1 nfo file (same as above) & 1 rar file (which contains a sub file)

    Gspot says

    stat
This is, or appears to be, an unsupported filetype. GSpot provides full support for AVI and OGG media streams. Based on its composition, GSpot believes the filetype to be "RIFF/CDXA -->Ogg Media".
    _______

    Render
DirectShow partially succeeded to play file. The actual text of the error or warning is:

0x00040242: VFW_S_PARTIAL_RENDER - Some of the streams in this movie are in an unsupported format.

The following combination of filters were used:

    {K:\ftj.xcd.dat} (Video Source)
    {Ogg Splitter} (Video Splitter)
    {ffdshow MPEG-4 Video Decoder} (Video Decoder)
    {DirectVobSub (auto-loading version)} (Video Post-processor)
    {DivXG400} (Video Post-processor)
    {Video Renderer} (Video Renderer)

    Questions

a- How do I view this movie ? Real One player gets video & subtitles but no audio. Which audio Codec am I missing ?

b- How do I convert it to avi or mpeg ? I wish to burn it as Vcd with video, audio & subtitles.

Subsidiary c- Why are so many video filters being used (according to Gspot) ?

Subsidiary d- Is this movie a Xvid, an Xcd or a Riff/Ogg format movie ?

    Ok some development,

    Viewing
<ac3filter_0_70b.exe> gives me the audio for the viewing part.

    Conversion DAT --> mpeg
TMPGenc gives me the video and the subtitles but no audio !
AC3filter properties icon appears in my Icon tray but there is no audio input (audio levels remain flat).

    Why is that? Anyone?

    Jacko

    Note : Gspot now says

DirectShow claims to be able to play the file. The following combination of filters were used:

    {I:\ftj.xcd.dat} (Source)
    {Ogg Splitter} (Splitter)

    {ffdshow MPEG-4 Video Decoder} (Video Decoder)
    {DirectVobSub (auto-loading version)} (Video Post-processor)
    {DivXG400} (Video Post-processor)
    {Video Renderer} (Video Renderer)

    {AC3Filter} (Audio Decoder)
    {Morgan Stream Switcher} (Audio Post-processor)
    {Default DirectSound Device} (Audio Renderer)

can you extract the bin with isobuster? if so, then install Odio Dekoda to handle the ac3. you should then be able to load the extracted file in tmpgenc as the source for both audio and video.

"XCD" is this wierd format where you burn something in mode2/form2 like an MPEG is burned to a VCD, but it's not an MPEG. That lets you fit a bigger DivX/XviD/etc. movie on a CD, but you're also going to end up with the RIFF headers on it and no error correction at all. That's pretty much where my knowledge of XCD ends, I have no use for it.

According to what you posted, you have an XCD that contains an OGM. OGM is an ogg container, in this case it contains AC3 audio and XviD video. It looks like gspot is showing you a filter to handle the OGM container itself and seperate the streams, plus one each for decoding the streams and displaying the subtitles, plus a couple more for actually putting the video on the screen.

If you're getting the video but no audio with tmpgenc, you should probably extract the AC3 and convert it outside of tmpgenc (or at least decompress it to a WAV, which tmpgenc will handle just fine). Try using the DAT file just like you would an OGM, there are a few guides that cover it.

    Hi honorarybrutha,

    In Isobuster
<File/open> bin gives me 1 dat file, 1 nfo file, 1 idx file & 1 rar file. They are the same as when mounting the cue & bin in CloneCD except that the dat file has a smaller size. That Dat file cannot be extracted (unreadable sector).

<File/open> dat (the CloneCD one) gives me a TAO file. I do not know what that is.

Vcdgear gives me an <invalid mpeg pack size> error mgs if I try a dat --> mpeg conversion.

    Hi Sterno,

Thanks for making it all a bit clearer.

I cannot find the software that would extract the audio as none I have tried recognizes the dat file (the one RealOne & WMP allow me to view the video.)

    -----------------------

Tmpgenc processes the audio beforehand (AC3filter is active) and then starts convertion dat --> mpeg.
Am I missing a plug-in ? (I use Tmpgenc 2.5 free version & it says my MPEG-2 trial period has expired.)

the trial period only affects it if your trying to encode to mpeg2. how about if you try changing the .dat file extension to .mpg?

  7. Hi dude, I've got hundreds of xcd's so here's what you need:-

Get yourself a copy of a little tool called "dat2file"

    http://home.arcor.de/kerberos002/d2fgui.html

You need also to have installed the Riff header tool (try another google search) so that your cdrom drive understands that this is a mode 2 cd.
    http://es.geocities.com/dextstuff/mode2cdmaker.html

Then just selct your dat file and select your destination for it , adding the extension .ogm to the end of it.
Hey presto you have the original ogm file.........

hey, never mind. I found it. Turns out, I was writing my own GUI w/ Delphi (was
in my Delphi Projects folder) because I wanted to include drag-n-drop
feature so that I didn't have to type anything in It was just an excercise,
    to sharpen my Delphi skills.

  10. Hi VHelp...good to hear from a familiar face......I haven't been around much in the last 12 months....Would love to say that it was because of concentrating on my final year at Uni.....Actually I found out that my isp carries newsgroups and the last 12 months has seen the old movie collection swell from 130 films to 800 ......Yep...I am now a confirmed "downloadist".
Many of the folks posting divx stuff these day on the newsgroups do in the xcd format to take advantage of the extra 100mb of space.....
Oh well I'm off to check on my download queues.....
