  1. Hi , 2 days ago i bought the Toshiba SD-R5112 DVD-RW (4x)

    and i also bought a set of 10 LG DVD-R`s (code: LGE04)

I tried burning with Nero 6.0.0.15 and 5.5.10.50 and both show me
i can burn at 4x (means DVD-R is verifyd as 4x) and also at 2x.

when i send to BURN it shows Time Remaining: 15 min`s, that means NERO thinks were burning at x4! but its x1!! 53 mins per DVD.
even when i try at x2 it says Time Remain 30 mins but burn at 53 mins.
as i said this happend`s at Nero 6 and 5!
i tried Updating the ASPI drivers and still no luck!
i saw at the DVD media page that someone has managed to burn with those LG`s (i`v matched all coded with DVDInfo and its the same Media) at x2 tough but i cant even at x2!

I realy dont know what is the problem, do you think the Drive is fucked up and i should return it to the store?

Please help me here... im lost.

    Thanks.

It burned at 30 minutes (2x) .. Its better than 1x .. But im not satisfied .. I thing 4x burner must burn at 4x speed .. But I dont know , what media I need , to 4x burning ..

  6. Media type might be your problem

    ---------------------------------------------------------
These media are fully approved for the use in SD-R5112:
    (DVD-R Media):
    Taiyo-Yuden
    TDK
    Mitsubishi Chemical
    Hitachi Maxell
    Fuji-Film
    PVC (Pioneer)
    Ritek
    Panasonic
    Mitsui Chemical
    Sony
    CMC
These cover almost all brandnames for DVD-R media,
all other media are burned with 1x for safety reasons.
    ----------------------------------------------------------

Try Ritek. It's my media of choice and always burns well.

If it's stuck in PIO mode then about 1x-2x is about all it can do.

Go pay the $4 for a single DVDRW and see if it will burn at 2x/2.4x . I'ts a start. If your software can't ID the media, it goes with a 1x burn. If it doesnt' know what to do with the media ID, it defaults.

Any chance of finding real Ritek G04's locally in your area.
