  3. No you can not
the only res. i found work on my DVD player are:

    352x240
    352x288
    480x480
    480x570
    720x480
    720x576

Those are the only res's that seemed to work OK on my DVD player, i tried heaps of resoultions, but the picture is not centered properly.

  5. Pioneer DV-535K. i bought it in singapore, and i live in australia. i haven heard of a DV-535K anywhere else. The closest is just the DV-535. i wonder what the K is for. anyway, its very good. It plays cd/cd-rw/dvd/dvd-r/dvd-rw
    vcd/svcd/audio CD. its great.

  6. Those are the standard resolutions, but you can in thoery use any resolution that can be dived by 16 (eg. 320x240, 640x480, etc). The problem is making sure that you set the 4:3 DAR for that resolution.

Also not all DVD players will play non-standard resolutions. I've made a lot of 320x240, 320x160 VCDs from DivX files (before I knew how to resize, or what I was doing) and they played fine in my APEX AD600A.

Samsung 811 actually can play sxvcd at res 368x288 (I've just raised 352 with 16, to excel at least the number of pixels of half dvd res (720/2=360). This player is fine, until you play double layer disk, when sometimes stops for long times, or even doesn't want to play it (or you need to eject few times). It is also very picky about non standard VCDs (example VBR ones), therefore I use sxvcd (1 disk only rips).

  8. how is 368x288 SXVCD? its just XVCD, and extendo on the VCD format. why is the S in there, its too small to be near SVCD.

As long as you multiplex and author as SVCD, it is a XSVCD, the MPEG resolution doesn't matter.

    Yeshi,
apparently the "K" stands for Karoke support.
