To paraphrase a line from "This Is Spinal Tap": "It's 0.4 higher now, isn't it?"

Because 2.5x wasn't doable at the time.

  5. It's not up for public discussion. That's the way the DVD Alliance wants it. Keep meddling in their grand scheme to control the world and you'll be burning CD-Rs on a 1X burner out of Hong Kong!

  6. Because they refused to listen to me!

I wanted 1.659X for compatibility with CD players but they just laughed at me!

And you should of heard the nasty things they actualy said when I also suggested putting grooves on the label side for Phonograph compatability!!

Same type fools as those dummies that refused my suggestion to make tape backup tapes compatible with 8track players, and you see how quick those 240mb tapes went down the tubes NOW!!!

HA HA I got the laugh on them

But they DID listen to you to burn DVD+R at 8x and DVD+RW at 4x.
Unfortunately you forgot to tell DVD Forum the same...

But Alliance forget to make 8x +R media too. Don't quote the crap around the corner either. If the drive is here, the media should be too.

I was trying to be funny, referring to overloaded_ide's blue joke....

Don't take it seriously, go have some rest or a cup of coffee...
