  1. I ripped the dvd I wanted to backup with dvdshrink...
burned it with copy2dvd but the disc was empty when I tried to view it in explorer, tried the plextor disc dvd+4 4x that it came with and a memorex+R 4x. Both had nothing on them? What gives?!

    What am I missing!?

  2. I had also problems with Copy2dvd and the Plextor 708A using Memorex+R 4x and Tdk+R 4x.
I tried Nero and burn Memorex+R at 8x without problems.

My 2nd burner is a Sony DRU-510A and both Copy2dvd and Nero works fine on Memorex+R 4x.

    I have your solution!

You should send your 708A to me, and I will send you my 504A which is known to work with ALL burning programs!

When you burn with CopyToDVD, you need to open & close the CD tray before content will appear in the Windows' Explorer.

There has not been an update to support that burner (PX-708A). May I suggest using Nero or Record now max after you use DVD Shrink. That program is not necessary once you have made your files with the Shrink.

I got the same result with DVD X Copy Express. The software has to get updated. Hardware just doesn't keep up with updates. Updates for the burning engines are necessary.

You could try re-installing the ASPI layer, Pattin Coffin sounds like DVD X Copy, do you have on yourt computer? A fresh install of the OS always puts stuff right again.

  11. Dvdxcopy screwed up my settings so spend some time fixing that and I am back with all my software.

Burned 1 dvd+rw fuji disc sucessfuly, but when I tried to burn a memorex dvd+r it didn't work. So I am 3/4 coasters used the same method I did with the dvdrw as dvdr. So maybe it's the media, but other guys had sucess with these disc..who knows. I am debating wether to try the same file with nero 6...

If the file plays on your computer using PowerDVD or WinDVD then it should work when you burn it to DVDR, assuming the files are in a VIDEO_TS folder and you burn that folder (not just the files). Use RecordNow Max or Nero to do the burn.

  13. What do I do about the Audio_TS dir? Do I need to put anything in there?

No nothing. Actually you really don't need that directory at all however I sometimes put it in.

  15. Alright I burned the VIDEO_TS dir with all the fun stuff in it and it won't play in my dvd player but it does play with windvd.. very weird stuff. I have a sony dvd player that plays everything! My buddy has the same one and he says his plays these discs and everything else. I am wonder what I am doing wrong still

    Getting closer!

  16. What is the model number of your player? Also Just to see if the disc will play in other players I would take it to a DVD store and try it on several players.

    fizler,

If you are using Nero: Try burning with the "DVD-Video" option instead of the widely suggested "ISO/UDF" or "UDF" options ..

    Cheers,

    Sabesh.
