    Hi

I have a movie avi and 700mbs, the problem is that when it gets to a certain point the pic goes weird and the audio plays up. I can play the avi around this point fine / before/ after / but if i play through this point big probs.
So i am assuming that there is a minor part that has bad frames or something like that or somekind of minor error that needs fixing that throws the movie somehow.
I have virtual dub and i think this is the tool for correcting the bad frames / errors in the avi but i cant seem to find any guides that can help me and i dont know how to correct any probs in the avi.

PLEASE help me on correcting these bad frames that throw the movie out,

    Thanks!!!!

    It's pretty simple....
Load your avi in Vdub, Set audio and video to direct stream copy, Under video select "scan video stream for errors" and wait for the report, if it reports bad and masked frames then save avi and give it a name.

If you get a VBR pop-up warning when you load the avi in vdub then use Vdub-MP3 and this guide instead.

  3. dalt,

You can give DixFix 1.10 a whirl. I usually set it to cut out the bad parts and also keep the original file. It has not let me down, yet. With VirtualDub, I think (although I haven't tried this my self) is to scan the video for errors, remove the errors, then set the video and audio to direct stream (so there's no compressing again) and save it from there. I haven't used VirtualDub to do this as DivFix has work quite well for me.

    Hope that helps,

    Thanks for the comments

I am currently giving divfix a go as suggested but i must be missing something. I can't save the corrected file.

I check for errors and errors are found and fixed but somehow the new fixed version is not being saved. I choose a destination directory to save the new corrected avi but no files go there.

What steps do you follow that i'm missing??

    Thanks again

  5. dalt,

you must only be clicking the search for errors button. That just searches for errors . You need to rebuild the index (? - or something with rebuild on it). This will create a file with a prefix DivFix.etc which will be the fixed file.
