  1. Windows XP is limiting the amount of times I can change the region code on my external dvd/rw drive. This message is seen by clicking the dvd/rw drive propertiesin explorer/hardware/(select the dvd drive)/properties and is under 'DVD region'. Windows is infact limiting me to 10 DVD region code changes and I'm now left with one more code change before.. before?=the end of the world?!
Basicly, how do I disable the ammount of times the Region Code can be changed? Please assist if anyone has the knowhow. Thanks. Btw I have 'AnyDVD' running.

Once you use up the last change, you can sent the drive back to its manufacturer to get it reset. That is of course, only cures the sympton. The disease is why are you changing region codes? If you are burning your archival copies, you should not be selecting any region codes. DVD Shrink can do that with no problems.

If you get a DVD that has a region code on it that your drive cannot play, make your archival copy without region codes and play that. Most rippers could care less what region code a DVD has, and just rips merrily along.
    Hello.

  3. Thanks for your reply. I'm new to all this and all I've done since I've just got the dvd/rw drive is play USA region 1 and UK region 2 discs. I guess this has used up 9 lives so far and I'm left with one more code change. I'm stumped because WindowsXP is threatening to fix the drive to handle just one region code. Maybe I'll find Windows will fix it to one code, but software will be able to bypass this- atleat that's what I hope. What would be better is to be sure I can disable Windows from doing this.
