  1. Okay I have some basic questions. I want to get a new computer and I want to get a dvd rom and a dvd-rw burner. With those two things would I be able to borrow my friends DVD movies and make a copy of them using a blank DVD? How would I do this and what programs would I need? Also if I download a DVD movie like Jurassic Park what do I need to do to it to be able to burn it to a blank DVD and what programs would I need? I know nothing about this so any information or help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Lesson #1 - Don't talk about copying copyrighted material unless you own it and it's for your own use.

For backing up DVDs you can use DVD Shrink or DVD2One you will also need to get DVD Decrypter for DVD2one usage. To put avi files onto dvd I usually use TMPGenc to convert them into mpg files and Dazzle DVD complete to create the DVD.

Your next step would be to find another forum 'cos you wont get any help here converting bootlegs. You will find many guides here on how to convert various formats to other formats so please read those first + look at other peoples questions.
