I'n not sure were to post this question, but since I think it has something to do with my dvd player I think this is the appropriat forum. I never have had any problems with my Phillips dvd-711 player untill the other night. I tryed to play my backuped copy of the Recruit and there is strange semi-trasparent artifact, sometimes greenish in color sometimes purple pinkish and also blue, in color. The artifact seems compleatly random, it is sometimes a thick long line, and other times almost the whole picture. I tryed several dvd's burned and original they all do the same thing. I also tried diffent video input, coaxial and componant video cable samething. Anyone have any ideas what the problem could be?

B4 you throw the player out, open the damn thing and blow all the dust away with compressed air, especially printed boards. See if any cable connectors are loose too (inside the thing).

  6. it probably is crappy media,or a bad rip and copy.
try ripping it without anything running in the background,or copying the same way, without uneeded programes running.

I don't think it is totaly media releated, since it does this with original factory dvd's also.

  8. i would take the case apart, and see if its a heat related matter.
when it does it on factory pressed dvds,is the artifact always in the same place, and the same time-meaning,does it act the same on all discs,or are there some discs that dont do it the same way?

    Update:

My dvd player works flawlessly again.
I'm not quite sure what caused the problem, It must have been over heating. Call me a dumb a$$ but after turning it off for a day and then retrying all of my dvd's play perfect, dvdr and originals. I guess your not suposed to leave your dvd player on all the time!!!
