Ok, I have a slow 1.3G AMD Athlon processor with PC-100 sdram.
In reality, will this work with video soap, or do I need something
in the 2.x G range with decent DDR? I am trying to squeeze another
year or so of life from this system![]()

From what I understand 'Video Soap' are filters, probably similar to the ones on Virtualdub. Should work, but may slow down your system considerably. If you have an ABIT KT7, you should be using PC133 memory(Set at Cas2). Also if you can afford it, a AMD XP processor would speed up your system quite a bit.

I just spent all weekend trying to get an XP processor with FSB=266 running on my MB (MSI K7T Turbo). No luck. Whenever I set the jumper on the board for the 266 vs 200 FSB, the memory starts failing (yes I have cas 2 pc133 memory for this test). Looks like I am stuck with the pc100 memory. My current chip is a t-bird 1.3 with 200 FSB. I have a xp1800 palomino (should be ok on this MB according to MSI) that I may be able to run at FSB 200 with the core overclocked to around 1.5G, but haven't tried yet.Originally Posted by redwudz
Since this is a real time capture with the video soap, "slowing down" would imply frame drops, which is what I am concerned about...

Thats the kind of report I am looking for. Hopefully I will be able to use this old beast still! I am going to replace my AIW 128 Pro with an AIW 9000 this week, hence the access to video soap possibilitiesOriginally Posted by presto-n6nfg

MSI K7T Turbo
Sorry, I read the KT7 from your profile, assumed an ABIT.
You have probably already seen this but this site:http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1410 has some information. Good luck. -
I think there's a hack for using MMC 8.x on 128 PRO cards. Next time I see that, and confirm it works, I'll add it to lordsmurf.com.Originally Posted by n6nfgWant my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

Whoops, your right, my profile has a dyslexia problem here, it should read k7t, NOT kt7! I'll fix this, thanks for finding it.Originally Posted by redwudz
The plot thickens however, I came across a posting on another board of a person with the same problem. It would appear that if you first install this MB with a 200 FSB processor, and then switch later to a 266 FSB, then the SDRAM memory access is screwed up. Clearing the CMOS seems to help, but even then it was reported that the next time windows was booted and then shutdown, the same memory access problem re-appeared. Sounds like I may have to so a cmos clear and a re-install of windows on the 266 FSB setting??? Oh well, the things I put up with to save a few bucks!-n6nfg -
I already did the hack to make MMC 7.7 work on the 128 PRO, but never got anywhere with the 8.x stuff. I have had enough intermittent problems with the video driver for the 128 Pro (or is it MMC, I never know which is at fault) that I figured the newer 9000 series Radeon couldn't hurt, plus they seem to be on closeout sale everywhere.Originally Posted by lordsmurf
