    as we have been discussing on slashdot this is a pretty serious increase to the threat to the movie business, at least for one click oen disk dvd9 copying of everything made so far and for the next 12 months.

    Can I ask one question... How many threads do we need about this same topic? I think this makes the forth active thread, and at least the fifth to be posted. I would link the others, but I am too lazy, sorry.

    wow you are right on most, but a couple of those have nothing to do with data capacity are are about speed or -/+ wars.

    Technical issues aside the main thing is going to be delivering full rate capacity for copying movie dvd's. that is the 500 pound gorilla for the great mass of users. looks like the media will be backwards readable, in the economies of scale in the worldwide pc market today the cost of a new burners will fall to nominal levels within a couple of quarters of release. Look how fast current mutiformat burners dropped.
