  1. Using tmpgenc to create mpg's (using the svcd template) then vcdeasy to create a svcd the resulting svcd has a slight jerkyness only really noticeble during wide pan shots. The sound however is fine, no jerkyness at all and is in perfec sync...

Anyone know if this is down to tmpgenc, vcdeasy or my dvd player ?

Hi, Have you tried playing it back on your pc after encoding it It could be that the film file is a bad file like the picture wise or you mite have bad frames in it. Try playing it on your pc and see what happens and check for bad frames if it's the same on your pc. If this doesn't work tell me ok. Neil :P

Could be field order. Always make the field order match the source - if it has fields as opposed to frame-based. Perhaps you selected interlaced.

Bitrate viewer can check the field order but its not always accurate. The easiest way to tell for sure is to use TMPGenc. Load the source and on the advanced tab double-click on the deinterlace filter. Set the filter to even-odd field (field) and then scroll through your movie frame by frame. If everythign looks ok then your field order is set correctly. If it jumps backwards every once in a while or if the black bars appear to shift up and down then the field order is incorect. Go back to the advanced tab, change it, and recheck.

If you are authoring a VCD or a progressive SVCD it doesnt matter what field order you set because there are no fields, I'm sure you knew this but I just thought it was worth mentioning.

The Rogue Pixel: Pixels are like elephants. Every once in a while one of them will go nuts.
