  1. Could any one please tell me what generic printable media is like - DVDR that is printable with both a standard inkjet and Thermal inkjet printer.

Will the surface be different to that of a DVD that is only printable on a standard inkjet printer?

All answers will be much appreciated.

Anything inkjet will have the same surface. Normally when they say thermal, they mean a sort of hot wire that applies some ink from a ribbon onto the disk. The thermal printers are nice because they will print onto any disc, even the uncoated ones. For any type of inkjet printer, you need the inkjet approved media. If they do not specifically state that they are for inkjet, I would want a couple samples to test before buying bulk.

Doesn't really answer your question, but it might help in some way.

  3. Thanks for the help.

On the site I was looking at they had inkjet only, thermal only and generic. I had just hoped that the generic DVD might have had a smoother finish than the standard inkjet disks.

I new when I posted that it was probably just false hope.
