From the 2 alternatives below wich one give me best result in video:
Video 640x480, 1180 kbps, audio 224 kbps or
Video 352x240, 1150 kbps, audio 224 kbps (VCD)
I made this test and for my surprise, the VCD showed best result.
I dont know why, since VCD has a lower resolution and lower kbps.
Does anybody know?
thanks

In any event 720x480 at say 4000kbps or higher will always look better than 352x240 at 1150kbps
Do you have the ability to burn to DVD or do you only have a CD burner?
If you only have a CD burner then I suggest you try either SVCD (480x480) or CVD (352x480) ... either format will look better than standard VCD. The SVCD and CVD formats usually max out at a video bitrate of around 2500kbps with 224kbps MP2 audio.
If you have a DVD burner then you could try 352x480 with a bitrate of around 3500kbps which will give really decent results. I tend to be a quality freak so when I do TV captures on DVD I ususally do 352x480 at 4000kbps with a 2-pass VBR with a min of 2000kbps and a max of 5000kbps
Some will say that half D1 on DVD (352x480) maxes out at 4000kbps but in my testing it doesn't seem to max out until about 5000kbps so I do the 2-pass thing. At that rate I can get 3 60 minute TV shows on a single DVD after cutting out commercials (60 minutes before about 44 after).
If using MP2 audio then 224kbps is the best bitrate to use. For 2.0 AC-3 I also use 224kbps but since AC-3 is better quality compression you could get away with 192kbps.

You don't have a high enough bit rate to support 640x480. For it to be of the same type of quality you would need a bit rate up around 4000 kbps. You are also looking at interlaced video, so that may show up as a lack of quality, depending on your viewer.
