Check to make sure all your drives including the DVD Burner are running in DMA mode.

I had the same queing failed error for ages, I even put a post on this forum but got no replies. Nero lists the error as a communication problem between the hard drive and the burner, but this is not always the case. My system was set up the same as yours and I got lots of coasters. Incidently if you get a queing failed error during the lead in it does not always scrap the disk. I even got an IDE raid controller and put my storage disk drive on its own channel but this did not help either. So after a long winded explanation my cure was to stop using Princo and Discwrite disks( which I believe are made by the same company) and to use Riteks. I have burnt about 50 disks now with only one coaster. Good enough for me.

My set up is just like yours. ASUS A7V333 mobo, with on board RAID. I have a DVR-105 Pioneer, I burn at 4x as a matter of fact, I only burn at 4x. But I only burn on RitekG04 discs and I have never had a problem.

So for what it's worth, I would make sure your drives are DMA enabled, you should do that anyway, but I think your problem is your media. I know it doesn't seem like it would make that much of a difference...but it does.

he's already using ritek disks ..... ridata are riteks ....... the problem is the sony wont burn riteks at 4x believe me i have tried to burn ritek at 4x on my sony dru 500a without success although some people have said that they can burn riteks at 4x using a certain firmware (i think it is 1.0g firmware but i wouldnt swear to that) i have used 1.0c 1.0d and 2.0f firmware but still cant burn riteks at 4x. however using 2.0f firmware i can burn mirror platinum 4x disks at 4x without any problem (an30 or an31 media codes) dont use the mirror platinum 2x though as they are made by a different company and the sony has problems finalising them if you write more than 4gb on them

    I had the same problem, burning -R RitekG04 at 4x speed with f/w 2.0f
    I downgraded to f/w1.0d - burned at 4x speed.
Upgraded back to f/w 2.0f and forced the Sony to write at 4x speed (set the speed to 4x and not to max.!!!) I've done this with Nero6.0.0.9, DVDDycryptor, RecordNowMax and Ulead DVDMF : ALL DISKS WERE BURNED AT 4 SPEED (4,3GB in ± 14 mins.)

Settings to IDE channel2, DMA enabled, ATA100 Cable, Master.

No I haven't (yet). Haven't checked what new features this firmware has. For the moment I'll stick with 2.0f because all works just fine for me. Most important is burning my recently bought Ritecks-R (40 pcs) at 4x speed and my +RW's at an average of 2,7x speed.

I'll try this upgrade soon and let you now what I think of it.

    To be continued................................

Flashed the 2.0g version yesterday (XP, IDE channel2, Master, DMA enabled, not probs).
Did some tests (simulations, not actual burning) on my Ritecks(G04 -R).
Burn speed seemed ok, also without forcing to write on 4x speed.
Tested (4,3 GB iso file) :
    DVDDecryptor :
    forced 4x speed : actual speed 3,9 - 4,1x
max. speed : same as forced speed
    RecordNowMax :
    forced 4x speed : actual speed 4x
max. speed : same as forced speed
    Nero 6.0.0.9 :
    forced 4x speed : actual speed 3,9x
    max. speed : 4,1x
when "determine drive speed" is enabled the write speed is only 2,9 - 3,1x (strange, wonder why?)
    UleadDVDMF :
    4x speed : actual speed 4x
All programs showed burning time less than 14 mins.

Also tried an Inmation 2,4x +RW (simulation) with DVDDecryptor :
    actual average speed : 2,7x!!!

So far this new firmware seems to do the job well. Let you know more after actual burning. I'm not gonna test +R because they are not compatible with my standalone players.
