  1. I use DVD Decrypter to rip the whole DVD to my hard drive. Then if the DVD is larger than the 4.7GB limit then I go in and delete the widescreen VOBs to bring it down to the 4.7GB limit.
Then I proceed to burn a blank DVD-R as a data DVD with the video_ts directory on my hard drive.
The problem is : eventhought B's Recorder Gold5 reports that the data to be burned is less than 4.7GB, it won't let me burn because it says there is insufficient space on the DVD-R.

After tinkering with it for a few days, I found out that GOLD5 actually use the IFO files to calculate how much data it will burn.
If I remove some of the IFO files then it will burn but the resulting DVD-R won't play back. The same image on the hard drive plays fine.

    Any suggestions,

    Thanks

  2. Use "DVD Shrink 3 Beat 5" and your problems are solved!...

  3. Wouldn't DVD Shrink cause the DVD to lose video quality because of compression. I want to preserve the DVD quality by removing either the widescreen or the fullscreen format that I don't want.

    Thanks,

  4. Of course it wont play on standalone.
Removing files will screw up the DVD structure.

Use DVD Shrink or other programs that recreate the IFOs too.
They give you lots of options.
