Help! Samsung DVD-P230 Wont play my VCDs !

I took back my Norcent DP-300 because it started messing up, and got a Samsung DVD-P230 which supposedly plays VCD, SVCD, DVDR, etc. Basically plays everything but Divx.

So i put one of my VCD's in and says it cant play it! I made a test SVCD and it played that, whats the deal? My VCD's are VCD 2.0 and played perfectly fine in my Norcent and my friends Norcent, and His friends unknown player. As well as other peoples..

Why wont this More Expensive Samsung play them? is there a firmware update? what can i do?

Check your VCDs with other units. I have tried VCDs authored by different methods and different people and they all have played well in that Samsung.

I Have. I have about 30 movies, all made the same way VCD2.0. They played fine in my Norcent DP-300, my friends DP300 and his friends other unknown player. and i think one other. they all played fine and they were good quality. There is no way im going to redo 30+ movies it took too long to make them. I was going to get a pioneer DV363 but walmart in canada doesnt carry them.

I need a good non pioneer dvd player that will play VCD, SVCD, DVDR, XSVCD would be nice but highly unlikely ill find one in my price range. looking to spend $120-150 Canadian.
