  1. Anyone got any input on CCE as an encoder.
Im mostly making SVCD's and i currently use
TMPGENC, but was looking at CCE for possible better
    quality ?

    Thanks in advance

  2. Opinions of people differ on which looks better. It's main appeal is speed.

Personally, I think cce is slightly better looking for mpeg-2 because of multi-pass (3 or 4) encoding, and I use it for encoding mpeg-2 for dvd-r. But, if I am encoding mpeg-1 then I will use TMPGenc. Just my 2 cents worth.

I think CCE is great but not at that price tag. TMPGenc can keep up with cce in everything except speed and is free.

But to specifically answer your question...NO!!! do not pay that much money for the light version. I'm not sure exactly what its limitations are but I dont think you will be able to create svcds with that and cce's mpeg1 quality is much lower than TMPGenc's. If you do decide to buy cce get one of the full versions.

CCE lite do encode in CBR mode only! This version isn't good for SVCD MPEG-2 and MPEG-1 encodes are worse than TMPG's MPEG-1.
Watch out for CCE SP. This will give you same MPEG-2 quality as TMPG at >2000 kbps bitrates, but much better quality at <2000kbps VBR multipass encodes.

  5. so did some of you people actually pay $3980US for version SP??? if so, you couldve bought every movie you were going to encode with it on DVD for the next 10000 years.

  6. hmm, well, i gotta be the first to say it, NO, dont think anyone here bought it, and actually, unless ur a buisiness in need of an mpeg2 software ap for dvd there is no point (just for the reason u stated).

its supposed to be secretive but everyone here got it bootleg.

  7. Does anyone know where they sell CCE for a bit cheaper? I'm interested in it since using the demo version with DVD2SVCD.
