  1. I know there are progressively more and more DVD media manufacturer's day by day...as the format and popularity continues to become prevalent...we will have even more manufacturer's of DVD media.

My question though, is, with all the manufacturer's out there, which site, company, etc..has the absolute CHEAPEST DVD media currently? When I say "CHEAPEST," I am referring to PRICE. I know i've seen some DVD-R's or DVD+R's for about 75 cents a piece, but I was wondering if anyone knows of ANY brand which sells for 60 cents, or 50 cents a piece?

If so, please post where you purchased it, the name of the media, whether it was -R or +R, and how well it works for you..as well as how many you've burnt.

If noone has found media as low as 60 cents a piece....then please repot the lowest price you have found. I think there is a post for "PINE DVDR" on this forum...which I've never heard of..but the price was 76 cents each. I guess the jury is still out on whether the media is good or not, because I haven't seen many posts on it...although, that could be because it isn't media which is excessive at the time.

    Please post your info..if applicable...thanks

From what I've seen, it's Princo. But from reading MANY posts, Princo disks are not worth the money.

    $68.99 <- click

Everywhere else seems to hover around the $80 mark for 100 packs of princo and Lead Data.

Last year Meritline's DVD PRO (Princo) was $58 for 100.

    Riteks are averaging $125-$130.

  6. ah...I figured Disturbed would know! That is the cheapest i've seen so far...and from a site i've never heard of.

BTW, anyone know what "shrink wrap" is with these DVD disks...I mean, I know what shrink wrap is...but is each DVD individually wrapped??...that is how the MAXELL OEM'S for $110 on EBAY were listed....."as shrink wrapped."

ANYONE SEEN ANY DVD MEDIA CHEAPER THEN $68.99?? going once...going twice.....???

Shrink wrapped means the discs sit between two platters shrink wrapped together.

    Instead of on spindels.

Those aren't legit Maxell's, legit Maxell's only come on spindels in bulk.

Wonder if this is still valid?

  8. it appears that link is still valid Disturbed...the problem I have with it...is the media really isn't .63...I mean "technically" it is...but you can get those DVD cases for a lot less then .45 cents each....so they get you there. I wish they had the disks by themselves for .63 cents each...i'd jump on 100 right now!

I've got a lot of FAKE MAXELL media right now, so be wary of anything being touted as "Maxell DVD-R" much as you were back when you had to be wary of anything advertised as "TDK DVD-R" media. The media codes are MXL, but the media code speed is 2x with a 1x write strategy, and often there are power calibration errors on the fake 2x Maxells discs. Nothing "TRUE 2X" about them by any means. Just be careful.

Cheapest? Well, I'm only buying 4x discs at this point, and I'm getting them for about $1.25 apiece. Not bad considering my first bulk 1x DVD-R discs were $9 apiece in bulk in early 2001.

I've seen 1x steadily for $70 apiece for 100-packs. Usually Princo, but sometimes Accu, LeadData and other offbrands (often Ritek or Princo).
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

  10. what are the 4x discs you're refering to pharaoh?

  11. dvd +R 4X verbatim for $1.20/each at office depot (buy 1 get 1 free). Verbatim is the best +R media I experienced. Burned around 20 discs at 12min per disc and played perfectly on all players I tried.

  13. Maxell Media official press release reply to the "Maxell OEM" DVD-R mess:

If you got stuck with these, go to small claims court and sue if the merchant will not refund you for ALL charges incurred on the fake media.

I've tried Pine 2x DVD-Rs. They're pretty good. Nothing special. A little less quality than say Optodisc, which I had a coaster or two out of a batch. Get Pine only if you can get them cheap. I see in the meantime the bashing of Princo continues. I have to concur with Alinero on Princo. I've NEVER had a coaster with Princo, on my Pioneer 105. All of my Princo discs play after 5 and a half months.
