Do I have a problem with my DVD Player?

I'm a bit confused by all this. I have a Panasonic DVD-XV10 player and a 36"Panasonic widescreen tv. My problemis this : - Some DVDs play in widescreen and some play in fullscreen. This happens wether the TV is set to Panasonic Auto or to 16:9.

By Widescreen, I mean 2.35:1, where you get the black bars at the top of the screen.

By Fullscreen I mean that there are no bars and i seem to be missing the left and rigjt of the picture.

Anyone help?

When u get fullscreen on your widescreen tv, the movie is widescreen 1.85:1

OK, but these films should be playing in 2.35:1, which they do on my PC and another DVD player that I have access to
