  1. I have a mpeg 2 file. It is 1 hr and 56 min. I am using UnleadDVD to burn it on a DVD-r. I keep getting errors saying I dont have enough disc space. I tried with Sonic MyDVD and get same thing.

The file is 3.7 gb. Shouldnt it fit on 1 dvd?

Can I shrink the file without splitting it in 2? Like lower the video quality.

I tried to reopen the file in Tmpge Plus , but it says the file is not supported. I have the mpeg2 codec installed and the file was created by TMPGE from a AVI.

    Any help would be great

    Thanks.

ulead and mydvd probably want to reconvert the video. Try author with tmpgenc dvd author and see what it says.

If the mpeg2 file isn't dvd compliant you must reconvert.

  3. Im going to try that. I do get a messege saying mpeg2 isnt standard for audio on dvd discs.

Will TMPGEnc tell me if its compliant and convert it?

  4. Sonic Mydvd whatever version, is like
not very good anyway, it get sticky
with audio problems i guess, ur
resolutions could be out of whack
    also,what is ur source anyway???
there are guides in every posssible
way u could think of to the left<<<<<
if u have mpeg audio, ur gonna have
problems, best is to separate audio
from video, convert audio to smaller
ac3 file, use tmpg author to recombine
    and burn w/nero 6.....hope i helped

make sure that your authoring application is not trying to convert a small audio file (ac3 or mp2) into a large one (pcm wav).

sonic is notorious for doing this - don't know about Ulead.

and when you say "no disc space", does that mean the program is trying to author a disc that's larger than 4.7Gb, or does it mean that the program requires hard disc space to write an image file or temp files, and you don't have enough free hard drive space to do it?

as for how much time fits, it's however much time you can encode into 4.7Gb.

  6. Ok I used TMPGEnc DVD Authoring tool. It loaded my mpeg2 and then converted it into vob (im guessing). It made to folders TS Audio and TS Video

Then it asked if I wanted to burn it and I did but the movie cant be read in my dvd rom. It just loks the PC up.

I didnt get any errors when writting or converting.

Also when I was using Sonic MYDVD it gave me the option to trim my movie. I thought if I trimmed a few minutes off it it might work. As I did this I accidently burned the 2 minutes I was going to cut out. The discs I burned (wasted) played fine. Audio and video.

Like I said befoe it was 2 avi files that I used tmpge to convert to mpeg2 and then joined with tmpge.

Maybe I should go back to the original avi's and reconvert?

Thanks for all the help so far!!
