I have a DVD+R with a home movie on it. It has one long video spread across a few vob's. I want to rip it to get an mpg file so that I can re-author it. It has LPCM audio.

I am looking for a way to get the mpg directly from a rip, if possible. And of course, using a free tool, if possible.

I have tried DVD decryptor, and it only seems to want to rip via demuxing, giving me an m2v file. I derived the wav for the audio via dvd2avi, but when I tried to remux using TMPGEnc, it gave me an error that the audio isn't supported. Don't know why.

I also tried IFOEdit, but again, it only seems to rip via demux. I am not that familiar yet with IFOEdit, so maybe that is the right tool and I don't know how to do it in there.

Finally I tried Movie Factory 2, using it's import function, but it churned for over an hour and finally said there was something that wasn't supported (I forget exactly, sorry).

I am pretty sure this is just a run-of-the-mill home movie. Any ideas?

    Thanks.

Did you try importing the separate video and audio file into Moviefactory? I'm not clear on that.

I don't use that program so I am not sure it allows that.

Are you able to tell what properties each file has?

PS - is "ms" because you're female? Only asking because I am and there's not many here. I used to live near Cherry Hill. :c) Now, I'm in England.

Thanks for the reply. I will give it a try, but now I am just having trouble reading the disc in my drive. I am getting read errors and will have to try it in another PC.

My name is Mike. The ms are my initials!

    Regards.
