I have just recently purchased some Ritek G04s and only after burning have I noticed that dark rings appear about half a centimetre thick all the way around the centre and outer edge of the disc on the underside. Anyone else notice this? Is it normal?

How does the color of these rings compare to a blank disk? Maybe they are an area that is not burned, the lead in and lead out areas.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they? -
That doesn't make sense because they are darker than the rest of the disc, but only after I have burned before all the disc is the same colour. So their colour changes after the burn.

What you see is the burned area of the disk. Some disks will hardly change color, while others will turn much darker. It all depends on the dye, the reflective material and the brand name of the blank disk. This is all normal.

Check the Doom9 site. (http://forum.doom9.org/) In 'DVD Burning' there is a thread that discusses this subject. Search for 'dark rings'. I was going to post the direct link, but it's pretty long.
