  2. Looks like this one is going to be on the Eastern Side of the mountains from me this time.
However, I have several friends in Philadelphia that are going to get hammered!
Just what is this reality thing anyway?

I think I'm far enough inland for wind damage and the like, but back in '72, Hurricane Beth, I think it was, it rained cat'n'dogs for about 2 weeks solid.

Better go pull the plug outa the boat, be poppin' the tires.

  4. I don't live where it is supposed to hit, but I will be driving right into the heart of that area soon. But, as long as it stays on course and speed, I'll miss it by a day.

EDIT: HA! now thats funny. I hit the "submit" button right as the phone rings with news the trip is being postponed

  6. When and where is best place to see tornados in the United States?

My friend and I were planning on road tripping America (not till at least 2006) and thought it might be something interesting to see whilst we were there. It's like in the mid-south east of the country, correct?

  7. Spring/early summer has the most activity (it would be fall in Australia). Like March to July I think. And in the Midwest around Oklahoma and Kansas is tornado country.

  8. Tornado's form in different parts of the country at different times of years.
The season starts off in Alabama and Mississippi around late March.

The really BIG ones(like the movie twister) hit Oklahoma, Kansas, and Nebraska about a month or so later.

Better make sure you are not in the path of one however.

I live in SC. There are some pretty scared people around here. Hugo really screwed us up before. But from what I've heard it's moving more North of us.

If you want to see tornados, go to states like kansas and oklahoma around spring I believe(march for us).

  11. Its called tornado alley and it generally impacts the central plains of the US. Just watch Twister (the movie) and listen to what states they mention as where they are in.

WUSA 9 is my main news channel. I live about 30-40 miles away from the east coast near DC. I'm in the eye of the storm's path, and am hoping to at least have Friday off from school.

So now you know why you won't see me posting on Friday/ Saturday...

I lost power before the storm (Thursday at 4pm). Storm hit Thrusday night. The result: an abnormal amount of leaves on the lawn. Really, I've had worst. Just got the power back on though, so I guess that was the worst thing.

The amount of rain was less than expected. I stayed home from work on Friday just in case my place flooded, but the creek level got nowhere near that high. However, I'm glad I didn't drive through areas where there were lots of traffic lights out that day.
