  1. Anyone use DupEZ 4X DVD-R media from rima.com?

They're leaddata01 but I can't get them to burn at 4X reliably with my NEC 1300A.
I'm just curious to see if its my burner or what...
I heard Pioneer owners can burn them at 4x just fine.
If you did burn it fine, did you try reading it back all the way past 4 gigs?

  2. I bought a 100 pack of the DUP Ez from Rima and my burner will only burn @ 2x (Sony DRU500a). My burning programs both see that the disks are 4x (RecordNow 4.5 and Nero 6.00.15). So I believe it's my burner that has the issues.

I'm going to try the hacked firmware tonight (supposed to allow burning @ 4x on more media). Let you know how it goes.

If that doesn't work, I may end up buying the Plextor burner.

  3. Geez, you guys don't have time to live !

Even if it takes an hour to burn, what's the rush ? Go and do something else while the writer is doing it's thing. I got a life and have never looked back !

  4. Well Garry, faster is better for more people. Why settle for burning 1 disc in the time you can burn 4? Some people like me have the Blockbuster monthly pass and have a lot of burning to do

It's like the difference in where you live. You might like the easy going life in Iowa but I like the excitement and fast paced style of New York.

about 1 in 25-30 has bad sectors after testing in nero dvd speed....
not bad, but not great either.... no problems at 4x though in a pioneer a05 with the 1.33 hacked firmware

  6. SergeantD - I hope that was a slip of the tongue !! You don't want to admit to copying rentals in this day and age, that's a real big no-no.

Anyway, my point is some people seem to be so adamant that they MUST record at full speed they don't consider hardware restraints, media quality and / or compatibility, and simply HAVE to hack their firmware. Quite frankly, I go for a quality burn every time. I still regularly burn at 1x - I just go and have my dinner, do my laundry, watch TV, get lucky...

My A04 supports 2x writing, and when the media allows I record at that speed. But I can't see why so many people are speed freaks when I've got better things to do than sit in front of a PC all day, waiting for a burn to complete.

Horses for courses, I guess. Besides, that makes more cheap 1x / 2x media availability for me !!
