  1. I have downloaded the firmware upgrade for Apex-660, and burned the file U660-MM.ROM to a CD-ROM, but when I put the CD in the DVD player, I just get the MP3 file menu on the DVD player. What's the trick to make it upgrade the ROM?

  2. The first time I did it the same thing happened. When I displayed the file name on the cd, Nero had replaced the spaces in the file name with underscores(_). I had to change the character set to DOS under the ISO tab. With the version I usuing now I have to use ASCII to stop spaces from turning into _. I aslo put a large dummy file on the cd like they said.

  3. Curious, there are no spaces in the file name, just a dash. Second, do you put the "dummy" file before or after the ROM update file?

It doesnt matter where you put the dummy file. Careful with upgrading firmware. Don't do it unless you really must because it can totally screw up your dvd player. Thats what happended with my Apex. Now svcds no longer play with the default loader and it absolutely will not let me flash it back to an older firmware version.

Are you sure you read the txt file that came with it completely? I didnt have any problems getting my player to accept the disk.

  5. Adam - that suprises me. Was it a 660? I haven't had that problem. But if I had to guess it sounds like you may have flashed an 8MM to a 660-3 or possibly even to 8AM. If that was the case then you loose the ability to reflash the ROM. You have to be very careful with the 8MM firmware if you want to retain the ability to reflash.
