Playing on computer from camcorder

Not sure if I am in the right forum. My question is: I have my camcorder hooked up to my computer and I want to know if I can view the tape instead of capturing it to save space on my hard drive. I am hooked up with a Pinnacle Linx USB Plus. I just want to watch the tape and not capture it.

Hi,
Here is what I think may be happening. You have a digital camcorder and you do data transfer (capture) using USB. You want to be able to selectively transfer the data to the computer.There may not be a way to view the video thru this data transfer cable. You may need to connect your camcorder S-video/RCA video out to an Analog capture card installed on your computer.

It turns out that when I had the capture window open, I just hit play on my camcorder and the movie played. I did not hit the capture movie button.

I guess I found out by mistake. A good one!
