  1. i retrieved a 256mb stick of SDRAM out of an old computer and was going to use it on my PC.... buuuut, it didnt work

at first i was thinking the memory was bad, but i decided to try it in another computer prior to tossing it.. and it worked..

    its Kingston ValueRAM, 256mb, PC133, 3.3v, 7.5ns..

the wierd thing is i have another stick of ram in this computer with identical stats, except its infineon ram, i also have another stick with identical stats, except its 128mb.

i'm thinking maybe this computer only supports PC100 sdram, and the sticks i currently have in it will work at PC100 & PC133, unlike the kingston stick that will only work at PC133..

another curious thing is, in the other computer (in which it works), it has two 128mb sdram ram stick, both are PC100, 7.5ns, 3.3v.. but it will only work in conjuction with one of the sticks, it wont work with the other..

anyone have any idea why this might be?

maybe there is a bios update for my mobo to make it support PC133, and that funky stick of kingston ram.

  2. Its more than likely incompatible with your motherboard.

I got a stick of Infineon for one of my PCs and it refused to work with any other brand of RAM. I returned it and got all Mushkin, the stuff they mercilessly endorse on this site
