I'm in the market to buy a DVD record now just a little sick of doing it on the PC wasting time. One thing I want is to be able to record a show and pause when there's a commercial's. When I home. And I want to still keep the "Close Caption" CC subtitle's. From the TV station. Also if I feel like I want to edit and still keep 'Close Caption' Subtitle's if I can record them if I use TmpGenc DVD Author and still keep the "Closed Caption" subtitle's?
Also can any of these DVD recorder's record SVCD and VCD format. I do not care that much about VCD buy would like to have SVCD for one hour show or half hour show's
I'm looking at some of these

The one thing I do not like about Panasonic is the DVD-RAM format that I can not edit it later on my PC I have a Pioneer AO4. But might think about spending little extra money for one with a hard drive if editting on the edit is very easy. What can I say i'm lazy. LOL
All my reocrding will be from satellite dish mostly from SCI-FI channel. And some other SCI-FI show's from other channel's
What can I say I'm geek. LOL
Any way any help. Big thank's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Philips records the cc info. All recorders should, as the cc is embedded in the analog video signal.
Haven't heard of any which record vcd/svcd. -
Philips DVDR 75/17 records CC stream (embeded in video). Not sure if editing programs keep that. Try and let us know.
Pinnacle Studio 8 and DV home video editing (ver.9 already home)
