I bought a local DJ out, He has a lot of Karaoke disc in CD+G format, He however is not parting with his karaoke machine.
My question, is there such a program that I could convert these disc to a VCD or DVD disc.
I have looked at several of the disc and the files that I see are CDA tracks. I have karaoke builder studio but it only looks for CDG or BIN files. anybody have any ideas?

    Hi,

Yes, these files can be converted to VCD/SVCD/DVD/etc.

Take a look at http://www.karaokeplayground.co.uk/index2/index2.htm for further info.

    The basic process is:
    1) Rip the audio and CDG files
    2) Convert the .CDG file to an AVI using CDG2AVI (from website above)
    3) Convert AVI to your VCD/SVCD/DVD/etc. using TMPGENC or similar, and use the CDA WAV file from step 1

I've done a few of these files - I downloaded them off alt.binaries.sounds.karaoke (or something like that) in MP3+CDG format (I haven't actually had access to any original CDG discs).

Since you have the original CDA files too, you just need to extract them to WAV format (no need to convert to MP3).

I'm not sure, but if you have a disc with both vocal and instrumental for each track, you could rip both, mix each track into a seperate channel (ie. vocals in Left, instrumental only on Right).

Best of luck, shout if you have further questions... but the link above should answer most of them.

  3. There is a really nice free program called CDG2SVCD that will let you batch convert a lot of CDG files to VCD or SVCD format. I've used it several times and it works well for automating the whole process.

Thanks for your help, both advice look like they will work.
However when looking for cdg files I cannot find any. Only cda files.
I have a plexwriter 16/10/40a and it says it is compatible with cd+g files,
any ideas as to locate the cdg files?
    Thanks.....

The karaokeplayground.com website has info on how to extract the CDG file info from your disc. It's on the disc (in the subcode area, I think).
