I have been told this will cover all the formats. The + DVDs seem to cost more. It does a great job on the +'s....Can I use - and R's?
Thanks

It's just a different variant on the format to most people.
+R records a little faster than -R, when using it for data, it has better error correction and defect management, and +R does often cost a little bit more. There are lots of "little" differences like that which, as I say, don't bother most people if the price is right.
Unless you've got a player that only supports one format, buy which ever media is the most compatible and cost effective for you.
I'm a DVD-R man myself. -
I think I'll pick up a few todays -R's that is.. I was wathing one yesterday and my 5800 player would hang in places.. It has done this before on occaisions..
Thnaks for the help. -
John,
If you live near an Office Depot check out their sale on Memorex DVD+R (not the -R). They have a buy one get one free sale. I've used the +R Memorex for videos with no problem. The -R version has bad reviews by members of this board. One last word of advice, be careful with the -R discs you buy. There seems to be a lot of crappy discs made in this format. Just read the posts on this board. And check the circulars on Sunday for sales on blank media. You can get better deals for quality media at your local stores such as Best Buy or Compusa than you can on the internet. -
-r is great for xbox & ps2
+r is about twice as much in price as -r NOT counting those stupid stores that double the price of -r so it matches that of +r -
Where can you get Ritecks at a good price. Whay I have seen so far is not that good...

Your impression is wrong. -R disks work just as well as +R. Alot of factors come into play. Burner, Software, Media and your own DVD Player. Find out what works for you and stick with those variables. I have made 2 trips to Office depot to buy Memorex Media. The _R is 4x, I was surprised to finally see some 4x media instead of the 2x. I have burned 10 so far and no problems with my Sony DRU 500A and DRU 510A. I use TDK, Verbatim and Fuji as well. It all boils down to you and your set-up.

The DePot here has them but the prices are SKY HIGH...I have used DVD X Copy Xpress and have Gold on the way. It seems to work good except a DVD I made seems to hang a bit in my Daewoo 5800 player and it doesn't in the computer so I'm going to say thats the 5800.
I'll get a few -R and give them a try.
Thanks for all the help... -
Well you Office Depot should have them for the same price since it is a Nation wide sale.
